Volkswagen Group's software company, Cariad, has announced the appointment of Sanjay Lal, a veteran from Rivian and Tesla, in an effort to expedite the development of technology for digitization and electrification. Lal will join Cariad's software-defined vehicle hub in November to lead the development of two vehicles for the German car maker.
Previously, Cariad had faced setbacks in the development of new electric vehicle models, resulting in a change in leadership earlier this year. To overcome these challenges, Volkswagen Group Chief Executive Oliver Blume emphasized the need for speed in order to remain competitive.
Lal, who brings valuable experience from his previous roles as vice president of software platforms at Rivian, and positions at Cisco, Tesla, and Android Automotive at Google, is expected to play a crucial role in the rapid software development efforts of Cariad.
In conclusion, Volkswagen's software company, Cariad, is making significant strides to enhance their technology development with the addition of Sanjay Lal. With this new hire, they are poised to accelerate their digitization and electrification initiatives, thus solidifying their position in the competitive automotive market.
